Midterm Progress Review & Coordination Meeting 2020 was held at CDCL head office on 15 & 16 June 2020 with the vision, mission and goals of the meeting with the Regional Managers, Project Managers and Project Engineers, who lead the offices and projects throughout the country.
Book on CDCL Launched
To commemorate the 40th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty, on 21st Feburary, CDCL successfully launched a book titled "Building The Nation's Construction Company." It is a book with helpful and thought provoking insight into what it takes to rise above the competition in the construction business - the numbers, challenges and requirements.
Donation to Thimphu Thromde
To commemorate the 40th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty, CDCL donated five numbers of deep freezers for mortuary to Thimphu Thromde. The freezers were handed to Dasho Thrompon on 21st February in a simple ceremony.
Acting Chief Executive Officer for CDCL
In order to meet the demands of the changing times and as a process of restructuring process, Mr. Karma Gayley was appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer on 21st February, 2020 in a simple ceremony.

Recipient of national order of merit, Gold Medal awarded from His Majesty the King on 112th National Day to Chief Executive Officer of Construction Development Corporation Limited. Geo Technical Seminar
With the pace of development taking place at much faster rate than ever, construction industry in Bhutan is evolving and getting diversified into different fields. It has become important to keep abreast with the latest technology and innovation for efficient conduct of businesses. Construction Development Corporation Limited (CDCL), having recently forayed into tunneling and other underground works, collaborated with Bauer Germany to conduct geotechnical seminar. Bauer Germany is a company having vast experience in geotechnical engineering and foundation works worldwide. It also has the presence in mega hydropower projects in Bhutan since 2011 and has completed four major contracts related to cut-off wall, jet grouting and large diameter piling works. The geotechnical seminar was conducted in Thimphu on 2 July 2019. The seminar covered wide range of topics including experience sharing from the past similar projects, challenges and solutions provided by Bauer Germany. The presentations on design and construction of dams and rehabilitation work, design approach for slope protection, construction of dikes and caverns, permeation and jet grouting were the most relevant and applicable topics to be considered for future projects in Bhutan. The seminar was graced by Dasho Chhewang Rinzin, Managing Director of Druk Green Power Corporation Limited. About 80 participants including executives, senior managers, engineers and geologists from DGPC, CDCL, PHPA-I, PHPA-II, MHPA, THyE and WAPCOS attended the seminar. CDCL will continue to coordinate similar seminars in collaboration with the international experts in future.

First Aid Training (2019)
Training on First Aid on 1 & 2 March 2019. As a first initiative of the newly instituted Safety Unit, a two-day training on First Aid held on 1 & 2 March 2019 at NRDCL Hall, Thimphu. The training was facilitated by two nurses from JDWNRH, who are certified professionals on First Aid.

Heavy Machine Operator Training Program (5th Batch)
5th Batch Heavy Machine Operator training program started at CDCL Lingmethang (EO) and Hesothangkha (WO). The training was organised by CDCL with the fund support from MOLHR.The training duration will be for a period of four months including field attachment.
Heavy Machines Operators Training (6th Batch )
The 6th batch Heavy Machines Operators Training came to an end on 15.06.2018 and the graduation ceremony was graced by Director General, DEHR, MoLHR. A total of 21 graduates successfully completed the 4-months training.

Salang Tendrel for New IT Park Building for TTPL.
The TTPL wanted to engage the services of CDCL to carry out Design, Supervision and Construction of the New IT Park building for TTPL and CDCL agreed to construct and supervise the Project by signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the companies on 8th August, 2017.
Inauguration of Pachhu Bridge Construction.
A big achievement for CDCL and team Pachu bridge construction project under Construction Division with the inauguration of bridge by Hon’ble Minister, MoWHS (27 Jan. 2018). The bridge was constructed by CDCL under DoR, MoWHS near Paro International Airport @ Nu. 57.362 million and completed in schedule time. The type of bridge is pre-stress concrete continuous slab bridge with span 56.05m and design to carry class 70R (loading).

CDCL, Department of engineering and construction - Infra Division has successfully completed the first ever construction of building. On 27 Nov 2018, Drukair’s customer service office Building in Thimphu, the services in connection with Pre-design, architectural design, structural design, construction supervision and management works of the project have been successfully completed and handed over to Drukair Corporation Limited.

The salang tendrel for Wangchu Zam construction.
The salang tendrel for Wangchu Zam construction. CDCL was awarded with the contract for the construction of 94m span bridge by DoR under MoWHS. The bridge will be 54 m span Twin RIB RC Arch & (20 + 20) Meter Span RCC T-Girder Bridge over the Wang Chhu in Thimphu as per the approved drawings and technical specification.

Machines for hydropower projects arrive
CDCL has made continuous efforts to gear itself towards hydropower construction. We have had huge investments in machineries and the first set of machineries arrived to Thimphu on 27 February 2017.
