Phuentsholing Township Development Project (PTDP), erstwhile named as Amochhu Land Development and Township Project (ALDTP) is aimed to provide River training and flood protection structures along the Amochhu River, which during monsoon created catastrophic damage to the land and properties, especially along the left bank of the river. Given the immediate and long term benefits of the project to the country and people, Druk Holding and Investments Ltd. (DHI) have been mandated to take up the project. Construction Development Corporation Ltd. (CDCL), a subsidiary company under DHI will be implementing the project as the implementation agency (IA).

In line with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) procedure the International competitive bidding process was initiated by CDCL in early 2017, and the project was ready for implementation since November 2017. However, owing to some site handing taking issues the contract signing was delayed until July 18, 2018. The contract for River Training and Embankment works (CW-01) was signed with M/s AFCONS Infrastructure on July 18, 2018. The letter to proceed was issued to the contractor on September 12, 2018, followed by the site handover from September 27, 2018. The Contractor started mobilizing their manpower and equipments from mid-September 2018.

The contract for Project Implementation Consultants (PIC) was also signed with Egis International JV wth Egis India and Sub-consultant Gyaltshen Consultancy(Bhutan) as on July 18, 2018. The letter to proceed was issued on September 17, 2018 and PIC started their mobilization from October 29, 2018 with few experts deployed at the site as initial mobilization.

In order to take the project forward, CDCL formulated a team comprising of the Project Management Committee (CDLC Management), the Project Management Unit (PMU) stationed at Thimphu, and the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) stationed at Phuentsholing site. This team will oversee the overall implementation of CW-01, Zone-A.
