66kV Single Circuit Suchu-Damdum Transmission Line Project

The Bhutan Power Corporation Limited Royal Government of Bhutan intends to construct a 36.70 km, 66kV single circuit transmission line from Suchu under Sangbaykha Gewog, Haa to Damdum under Samtse Gewog, Samtse. This is a priority and project of National significance tied up to the commissioning of Hydro Project at Suchu.

Upon the singing of Contract on 30th October 2023 between the Bhutan Power Corporation Limited and the Construction Development Corporation Limited (CDCL), the Project for construction of line started on 23rd November 2023 with the detail survey for the 36.70km. As an executor, Project Office under CDCL was set up at Dorokha, Samtse to implement and construct a line as per the standards and drawings issued by the BPC.

The initial cost of the project was Nu. 287,573,365.75 and the duration of project is eighteen (18) months from the date of singing the contract. The project is in full swing undertaking the foundation works at different locations to complete on time. The completion of the project on schedule is of paramount importance and CDCL is taking up different measures to complete within the deadline. After commissioning the transmission line, it will facilitate in transmitting surplus power generation from Suchu Hydropower Plant to within country and to the neighbouring countries.
